PDF to JPG or PNG: which should you choose?
Reviewed 22 October 2026. Instructions describe the ToolPeb 4.2 build.
Choose the picture format
JPG is useful for many picture-heavy pages. It uses lossy compression, so small text and edges can change. PNG uses lossless image compression and is useful when you want clean edges. Actual output size depends on the page.
A page picture is different from an embedded image
This tool renders the whole PDF page as a picture. It does not extract the original pictures stored inside the PDF. Text in a rendered picture is no longer selectable PDF text.
Download the pages directly
Choose your PDF and select JPG or PNG in Output format. Choose Download. A single page saves directly as the selected image format. For several pages, use each page’s download or Download all images. ZIP is an optional bulk choice.
If saving is blocked
Your browser may ask permission for several downloads. Allow that request if you want every image, or use the visible per-page actions. Reducing Render scale in Advanced Options uses fewer pixels when a page is too demanding.
